Who is The Cake Robin?
I’ve always enjoyed cooking and baking, but my passion for it really took off in 2005, when my sister-in-law asked me to bake cakes for her wedding. My co-workers had fun critiquing my recipes along the way, helping me settle on nine different cakes as the centerpieces for each table.
Since then, I’ve loved baking for friends and family, springing new recipes on them whenever I want to try something. In 2011, I found a wonderful outlet for that passion with Cake4Kids, a nonprofit where I get to bake birthday cakes for youth in the foster care system.
When I moved to Redwood City in 2016, I joined the culinary program at Sur La Table in Palo Alto, working my way up from Kitchen Assistant to Resident Chef. That role expanded my baking repertoire and built up my savory skills as well. In February 2020, I left Sur La Table to launch my own custom baked goods business: The Cake Robin.
I also teach classes several times a month for Redwood City Parks, Recreation and Community Services. Click here to register!
